Although to be fair to humanity, the Japan earthquake isn't something we can be blamed for. Unless you believe that HAARP triggers earthquake, which is a pretty silly thing to believe, because if HAARP had done that, it would have brought the megalodons to the surface.

There's at least a tenuous link to global warming. ( (At the very least, the rise in sea level gives any tsunami the potential to do more damage.) Hence why I included it.

If we go off the fiscal cliff in January, the economy will be depressed, which will temporarily suppress consumption. Of course, this is good for the planet, so ultimately good for humanity. Maybe we should all thank the bankers for causing the financial crisis because they will permanently stunt our economy, because less consumption means less harm to the planet.

My New Year's resolution is to see something positive in as many situations as possible, so I am getting an early start.

indeed. some of my online presences are tagged "liveblogging this slow and decadent apocalypse" recently, and it seems to keep being accurate. I always feel a little saner when someone else points it out. Thanks. Also, hooray Eliot.
